Welcome to Triangle Baptist Church
We are a Christ-centered Church where God is at work in the hearts and lives of His people. We are bold in proclaiming our faith in the Bible, the Holy Trinity, and the importance of baptism and communion. We embrace all who are interested in learning more about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
History of Triangle Baptist Church

In early 1941, six ministers and laymen of the Potomac Baptist Association drove into Tringle, Virginia, to determine the possibility of establishing a Baptist Church where there had not been any Church previously. These six men surveyed the area and had a vision of what might be.
They were led by the Lord to inquire of Mr. B.F. Warren regarding the need for a Church in Triangle. Mr. Warren who was one of the few active Baptists in the area was very much in favor of the project. He had just bought a building on Route 1 which ran through the town, and without hesitation, he offered the use of that building to begin Services in.
The group decided to hold the first Service on June 4, 1941. There were four persons in Sunday School and 20 in that first Service. Rev. Herbert S. Reamy presided at the first Services held, and on July 16, 1941, he was formally called by the congregation as Senior Pastor. Services were still being held in the building owned by Mr. Warren, and on August 4, 1941, the Deacons were asked to find a location to build a Church. At the same time, money was being set aside to provide for land purchase and building a Church.
In July, 1945, land was purchased to build the Church on for $1,000.00. The location was intersection of Route #1 and Squire Lane in Triangle. In January 1947, the members signed a contract to begin construction on the new building. On March 18, 1947 a groundbreaking Service was held on the construction site. Then on November 30, 1947, the new Church building was dedicated. The congregation would worship in this Church for nearly 40 years. Church records show that in 1948, the annual Budget for the congregation was $9,000.00
Church records also show that in 1955, Triangle established a mission Sunday School in Quantico which later would become Midway Baptist Church. Then in 1964, Triangle began a mission Sunday School in Cherry Hill, some miles distant from the Church. During the period 1964-1985, the Church hosted a radio program, initially broadcasting only Sunday Services then later, broadcasting every day.
In 1986, Triangle established a mission in Dale City which later became Dale City Baptist Church in Dale City. During the years 1971-1987, Triangle sponsored a bus ministry to reach out to the surrounding community. This ministry was very successful in expanding the reach of the Church.
In October 1978, the Church began a "Together We Build" campaign to purchase 17 acres of land on Inn Street in Triangle. Adequate monies were raised to purchase the property and on February 3, 1985, a groundbreaking Service was conducted on the new site at 4345 Inn Street. In April 1985, the Board of Trustees signed a contract to begin construction on the new Church.
On September 29, 1986, the final Service was conducted in the original Church. After the Service, numerous congregants shared their memories of the Church building they were now leaving, then sang "Blessed Be the Tie That Binds".
On October 5, 1986, the church body met in the new building to dedicate the building and commit to continuing the work that begun on that July morning 45 years ago. There was great joy and anticipation of things to come.
Triangle Baptist Church has long served the Triangle/Dumfries community and surrounding areas. For example, from 1988 through 2015, Triangle has actively helped feed the homeless at the Homeless Shelter located in the town of Dumfries. The church was involved in the development of the ACTS (Action in the Community through Service) organization and continues to support their programs to this day.
Beginning in 1994 and continuing through today, Triangle has overseen and administered a weekly Food Pantry to help feed the hungry within the community.
In addition to serving the Lord in the Gospel ministry, Triangle has found a number of ways to reach out to the surrounding community. As an example, in 1994, Triangle began a partnership with the Calvary Christian School which teaches children from pre-K all the way through 12th grade. This partnership continues to grow and continue to this day.
Triangle has nourished well over 15 people who have later gone on to enter active ministry. We are very proud to continue to do the Lord's works in our surrounding community and indeed throughout the world!
